| Pearl Grading - covers a slide presentation of an EGM study trip to French Polynesia, then review the various varieties of pearls, method of production and country of origion. You will see many pearl necklace specimens and learn how to observe the grading characteristics and shapes of each variety; shape, dimension, color, lustre, nacre thickness, surface quality and matching. At the same time you will learn how to identry the various pearl varieties and how the grading characteristics impact the value. Finally, it is important to differentiate enhanced or treated pearls as well as simulants. Each student will receive a EGM Pearl Grading Lab Manual and certificate of completion. | Wax Pen Workshop In this 2 day workshop, you will make your own wax pen from the materials that supplied. You will also learn how to formulate your wax for the proper working characteristics of the wax pen. You will then learn how to design original and unique wax jewelry designs for rings, pendants and other art objects. | Beginning Lapidary Workshop In this course you will learn the various types of equipment used to cut and polish cabochon stones. You will also learn their safe use, what their advantages and limitations are and which one will work best for you.
